Double Steel Arrow Pendant (with salvaged auto body steel from a ’67 Chevy Impala and a 1961 Plymouth Valiant ) – #747

This pendant was hand-forged, by me, from sterling silver sheet and wire.

The pendant features a piece of steel from a 1967 Chevy Impala (smaller blue piece) and a piece of steel from a 1961 Plymouth Valiant (larger red/orange piece). The main body of the pendant consists heavy sterling silver sheet and a forged silver bail. All parts are soldered together except the shapes cut from salvaged auto body steel. The steel is attached to the silver pendant with silver tube rivets which give the piece an industrial look.

The bail on this pendant is large and you could replace the bead chain that is included with your own chain.

The overall design of this pendant was inspired by vintage motel and diner signs. The Valiant steel is a unique shape with a folded top that folds over the heavy silver of the base piece. This one is most definitely one of a kind. The extra-heavy silver sheet gives this pendant a substantial and weighty feel.

This pendant measures 3/4″ wide by 2 and 1/8″ tall.

The top parts of this piece have been treated with a black oxidizing chemical to bring out the hammer marks. The oxidized areas have been treated with an archival acrylic wax to help preserve the oxidation. The salvaged auto body steel has been treated with a glossy lacquer to preserve the surface and keep it from rusting, though I still would not recommend wearing it in the shower, pool, or ocean.

This Chevy Impala body steel is a medium blue color. The Valiant steel is a red/orange color.

A 20″ stainless steel bead chain is included. If you want another length of stainless steel chain, let me know and I’ll replace the 20″ chain with one of your desired length (no additional cost – use the “contact” button on the homepage to contact me about another chain length).
