This pendant was hand-forged, by me, from sterling silver sheet and wire, with all pieces cut by hand using a jeweler’s saw.
The pendant features a small retro-style diamond of body steel from a 1961 Plymouth Valiant. The information card pictured in this listing will be included with this pendant. I salvaged the body metal from a car in a classic car parts yard in South Dakota.
The steel is attached to the silver pendant with a silver tube rivet. The shape of the pendant is retro in feel with a hand-forged bail that could accommodate your favorite chain.
This pendant measures 2 and 3/16″ tall by 7/16″ wide.
This pendant has a bright tumble-polished finish. The forged bail has been oxidized with black oxidizer to bring out the hammer marks, polished to a satin finish with super-fine steel wool, and sealed with an archival acrylic wax. The salvaged auto body steel has been treated with a glossy lacquer to preserve the surface and keep it from rusting, though I still would not recommend wearing it in the shower, pool, or ocean. Paint loss and chips are part of the original body steel but have been sealed with the lacquer.
This Valiant body steel is an orange-red color. Surface wear marks are original to the steel used.
A 20″ stainless steel bead chain included. If you want another length of stainless steel chain, let me know and I’ll replace the 20″ chain with one of your desired length (no additional cost – just sent me an email using the “contact” button on the homepage).
