Split Peacock Variscite & Sterling Silver Pendant with Handmade Chain

VINTAGE Red Ember Forge. Before I started making forged, unisex jewelry, I spent 6 years in night classes learning various techniques and spending months on a single piece. This is one of those. It is time for it to find a home since it has mostly been displayed (and regularly cleaned) from the time I made it until now.

The stone is a peacock variscite that was split in half. The stone is bezel set in sterling silver with a solid silver back. This is a substantial, weighty piece. The top and bottom move and flex on TINY handmade silver hinges. In the center, there is a bundle of hand-forged sterling silver “sticks” bundled with a copper wrapping. Entirely handmade, substantial chain with every connection soldered closed. The chain has links of varying lengths ending at a handmade hook and loop clasp.

This is not a piece for everyday wear. It makes a statement and is truly a piece of art jewelry. Please see the last photo of the piece being worn to get a sense of scale.
