Pendant made with steel from a ’67 Mercury Cougar – #700

This pendant was hand-forged, by me, from sterling silver sheet and wire, with all pieces cut by hand using a jeweler’s saw.

The pendant features a small half-circle of steel from a 1967 Mercury Cougar. The information card pictured in this listing will be included with this pendant. I salvaged the body metal from a car in a classic car parts yard in South Dakota.

The steel is attached to the silver pendant with a silver tube rivet. The shape of the pendant is clean and modern with a large hand-forged bail that could accommodate your favorite chain.

This pendant measures 1 and 5/8″ tall by 1/2″ wide.

This is rustic. You can see the hammer marks and rough surface on the metal. This pendant has been treated with black oxidizer to bring out the hammer marks, rubbed to a satin finish with super-fine steel wool, and treated with an archival acrylic wax to help preserve the finish. The salvaged auto body steel has been treated with a glossy lacquer to preserve the surface and keep it from rusting, though I still would not recommend wearing it in the shower, pool, or ocean.

This Cougar body steel is a red color. Surface wear marks are original to the steel used.

A 20″ stainless steel bead chain included. If you want another length of stainless steel chain, let me know and I’ll replace the 20″ chain with one of your desired length (no additional cost – just sent me an email using the “contact” button on the homepage).
