Valiant Steel Mid Century Pendant (with salvaged auto body steel from a 1961 Plymouth Valiant ) – #748

This pendant was hand-forged, by me, from sterling silver sheet and wire.

The pendant features a piece of steel from a 1961 Plymouth Valiant. The main body of the pendant consists of 18 gauge sterling silver sheet and a forged silver bail. All parts are soldered together except the shapes cut from salvaged auto body steel. The information card pictured in this listing will be included with this pendant.

The steel is attached to the silver pendant with silver tube rivets which give the piece an industrial look.

The bail on this pendant is not as large as some I make. You might be able to replace the included stainless steel bead chain with another chain you already have, but one end of the clasp has to be small enough to fit through the 1/8″ opening of the bail.

The overall design of this pendant was inspired by mid-century modern design.

This pendant measures 7/8″ wide by 1 and 3/8″ tall.

This piece has a bright tumble polish finish. The salvaged auto body steel has been treated with a glossy lacquer to preserve the surface and keep it from rusting, though I still would not recommend wearing it in the shower, pool, or ocean. You can see in the image of the back of the pendant that the steel is black on the back. This is rust converter applied to the back before the sealer was sprayed on. I take off all rust while cleaning the steel, but the rust converter is an extra step to insure rust won’t form on the back.

The Valiant steel is a red/orange color.

A 20″ stainless steel bead chain is included. If you want another length of stainless steel chain, let me know and I’ll replace the 20″ chain with one of your desired length (no additional cost – use the “contact” button on the homepage to contact me about another chain length).
